FIREARMS: ARE TO BE LEFT IN YOUR AUTO UNTIL THE INSTRUCTOR NOTIFYS YOU TO BRING THEM INTO THE CLASSROOM. ALL FIREARMS MUST BE UNLOADED.  -NO EXCEPTIONS-.  NOTE: ABSOLUTELY NO LIVE AMMUNITION IN THE CLASSROOM AT ANYTIME.

You MUST have eye and electronic ear protection. NOTE: For the NRA basic class portion of the live fire drills you will use your ammo. You have the option to purchase ammo from us with an advance notice. ALL Ammunition purchases MUST be completed prior to the shooting portion of any instruction requiring LIVE FIRE activity. Classroom locations may vary due to the student numbers in any of the courses. The shooting location(s) will be determined by weather conditions at the time of the shooting section of the class.

BASIC HOME FIREARM SAFETY COURSE

REQUIREMENTS- NO PREVIOUS COURSE REQUIREMENT

This 4+ hour course is a non-shooting course that teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and explains the necessary attitude for safe handling, storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. The course will also familiarize participants with safe firearm handling procedures and guidelines for storing pistols, rifles and shotguns in the home. This is a four hour plus course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; the primary causes of firearm accidents, firearm parts and how to identify, load and unload different types of firearms. The different types and uses of ammunition, and the proper methods for cleaning and care of firearms.  Emphasis is also provided to proactively engage in the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety Handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules Brochure, Basic Firearm Training Brochure, and Course Completion Certificate. ALL FIREARMS FOR THIS COURSE ARE PROVIDED.   COURSE FEE $ 85.00

 

BASIC PISTOL COURSE

REQUIREMENTS-COMPLETION OF PHASE I ONLINE COURSE WITH 90% PASSING SCORE. REGISTER AT:

COMPLETION OF PHASE II TO EARN CERTIFICATE AT INSTRUCTOR'S SHOOTING LOCATION.

The course goal is to teach a student  the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a single-action, double-action revolver and or a semi-automatic pistol safely. Students will Students will apply and adopt the NRA rules for safe gun handling and demonstrate how to handle a pistol in a safe manner,  Students will learn the factors involved in determining how to purchase a handgun. Students will learn gun range safety rules and commands. Use of the 5 steps of the fundamentals of marksmanship will be taught. This course is composed of time online (Phase I) and also time on the range (Phase II). Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting Handbook, Course Completion Certificate, NRA Gun Safety Rules Brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Booklet.

BASIC RIFLE COURSE

REQUIREMENTS-NO PRIOR COURSE REQUIREMENTS

SEMI-AUTO, BOLT ACTION, LEVER-ACTION, OR SINGLE SHOT RIFLE- (NO .22 LONG RIFLE SEMI-AUTO FIREARMS ALLOWED)-

150 ROUNDS- FOR YOUR RIFLE

This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting. The course is at least 14+ hours long over two days and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students will learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting Handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules Brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Booklet; take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and a Course Completion Certificate.

Participants of this course must be experienced shooters (shooters that demonstrate a mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm) NRA’s Basic Pistol is a prerequisite for this course. The course goal is to develop the students the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for the protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding citizen’s right to self defense.

This 8+ hour course in part will cover defensive shooting and handgun skills, the importance of using a firearm responsibly and ethically for personal protection, how to evaluate the state of mental awareness using the four levels of awareness, the importance of mental preparation and physical firearm training for a potentially life-threatening confrontation. Along with the fundamentals of defensive marksmanship, the difference between cover and concealment, close range point shooting, use of a flash site picture, firearms and the law (possession, ownership, and the use of deadly force), strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, and selecting a handgun for self–defense. Sport shooting activities and other additional training opportunities. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection in the Home, NRA Gun Safety Rules Brochure, NRA Basic Firearm Training Program Brochure, Sport Shooting Brochure and Basic Personal Protection in the Home Course Completion Certificate. NOTICE: THIS COURSE IS AUTHORIZED FOR THE STATE OF MICHIGAN CONCEALED PISTOL LICENSE.

PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME COURSE

REQUIREMENTS-NRA personal protection inside the home course

This course is comprehensive and intensive in its approach to equip the defensive shooting candidate with the skills needed to survive serious adversity. The course teaches the students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home. Students must attend the course using a quality strong side hip holster that covers the trigger, or a holster purse. From a review of safe firearm handling and proper mindset to presentation from concealment and multiple shooting positions, this course contains the essential skills and techniques needed to prevail in a life-threatening situation. The NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Course is divided into two levels, basic and advanced. Level One is a nine hour course with classroom and range time, and offers the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered in order to carry, store, and use a firearm safely and effectively for personal protection outside the home. Upon completion of Level One, students will attend Level Two Advanced, which is an additional five hours of classroom and range training where advanced shooting skills are taught.  Students will receive the Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home Handbook, Course Examination, NRA Gun Safety Rules Brochure and the appropriate Course Completion Certificate(s), NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside the Home Certificate (identifies strong-side hip holster or purse use) and NRA Advanced Personal Protection Outside the Home certificate
